As his journey towards his distant northern goal continues, Daevrys comes to Chataen, known to his people as the Land of Gift. However, some gifts are less well meant than others, and Daevrys is set to discover a darker side to this fair and fertile land.

It appears that some of the stories on this site have been corrupted somehow, specifically “Poison” and “Derelict Station.” There may be others. I’m going to search through them and repair any that have been lost.
Edit: Okay, pretty much everything posted before the the recent backup restoration seems to have been zapped in some way or another. This is going to take a while…
Update: It seems that something in the backup process conflicted with particular items of punctuation in some posts. Vexing, but I’m slowly restoring what was lost. Rather more annoyingly, some comments have been affected. I can’t restore those, which means that they’re sadly lost. Rather more than vexing, that.
Update II: Okay, everything should now be restored to its proper place and wholeness. The problem seems to have been caused by a conflict between the backup utility and some of the punctuation in the entries. Which rather suggests that I need a new backup function. If you spot anything problematic with the entries, let me know and I’ll fix it as soon as I can.

Daevrys has found a purpose and a goal, but the end of both lies in the far distance, across the cold northern ocean. For one such as he, doubly exiled, crossing that space will be no easy matter.

The eerie experience of Aenvilselas, wherein Daevrys’s potent gifts are all but nullified, opens the nomadic elf’s eyes to a world he was not before aware of. However, how will he square his newfound purpose with Jaedini’s continuing pursuit and his preordained death?

Unwilling to accept the death that Jaedini, his pursuer, would hound him to, Daevrys has chosen to flee before her. He plans to force her to follow him through places where she would not willing go. But to do so, he must be more willing than she to endure the unendurable. In Aenvilselas , the "Empty Sea," his will shall be tested.

Daevrys has secured his escape from Jherdan, tyrant of Dardrar Sluas. He is once more free to journey wherever he may. However, the matter of his pursuer remains. Jaedini, priestess of Ahrianne, has sworn to hound him to his destruction, and she has no intention of pausing her hunt.

A hunted animal, Daevrys has decided to elude his pursuer for as long as he can. To do so, he hopes to travel to the far south, where once he journeyed in better times. But to get there, he must pass through a place entirely new and alien to him: a human city, a gathering place of the slave race. Can he hope for better fortune there than has attended him since his exile began?

Having been given a glimpse of a life that could have offered some recompense for all that he has lost, Daevrys has seen that small flame of hope extinguished. Now he knows himself to be hunted - a hunt that will only end with his death. How will he respond to this revelation of his fate?

Daevrys has found a place where he can rest, a place where he can enjoy the company of others. Other who are exiled, as he is. But there is a second element to his sentence, and that sentence proscribes no rest for the accursed…
